Your impact as an Underwriting Specialist II
Our Underwriting Specialist II will be responsible for underwriting and servicing business insurance and management liability coverage through multiple programs targeting the nonprofit sector. This position includes underwriting and end-to-end servicing of renewal and new business risks within designated Affinity programs targeting the non-profit segment. The position requires extensive review and analysis of submissions, capturing data and assessing risk against established underwriting guidelines. The Underwriting Specialist II is responsible for using rating tools and inputting information into internal and external underwriting systems, liaising and advising direct insured organizations, prospects and local agents/brokers who submit and place business in the programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide customer support and assistance to direct clients, brokers and prospects to make recommendations and guide/educate on products.
- Responsible for underwriting and servicing policies through the full life-cycle of accounts.
- Will achieve successful results through telephone work (both incoming and outgoing calls) along with correspondence via email.
- Responsible for binder, policy and invoice delivery as well as adherence to accurate and rapid turn around on certificate of insurance requests (pertaining to business insurance).
- Supervise, track and follow-up on business insurance and management liability proposals to ensure customer and broker satisfaction.
- Use sound judgment and independent thinking to achieve the maximum result within authority and state guidelines
- Adept in conducting detailed discussions with retail brokers and direct customers and prospects about coverage and pricing features of the programs.
- Identify premium growth opportunities with current book by cross sell offering other coverage lines and with in-depth work on resolicitation and outreach to bolster pipeline.
- Collect/supervise competitive intelligence on all key competitors within assigned areas; anticipate client's needs by contributing to research and development of products /endorsements
- Work with clients or brokers to provide coverage overviews and clarifications
- Works independently with moderate guidance and supervision
Required Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity in working with carrier underwriting systems is a plus.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
- Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented.
- Experience with MS Office suite products, proficiency with Excel required.
- Property & Casualty license preferred - must be acquired within six months of hire date.
Education:
- Four- year Bachelor's degree in relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $58,000 to $65,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
