Are you detail-oriented, customer-focused, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? Great West Casualty Company is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to play a key role in supporting our underwriting team and delivering exceptional service to our agents and insureds. This position offers the opportunity to build insurance expertise while contributing directly to our success in serving the transportation industry.

What You'll Do

As an Underwriting Assistant, you'll provide critical administrative and underwriting support throughout the policy lifecycle by:

  • Reviewing and preparing new and renewal fleet applications, ensuring information is complete and accurate.
  • Gathering and analyzing underwriting data, including loss runs, financial information, motor vehicle reports, SAFER reports, and experience ratings.
  • Communicating with agents, insureds, and internal stakeholders to answer questions regarding coverage, underwriting processes, and policy administration.
  • Processing bind orders and ensuring policy documentation is complete and properly maintained.
  • Assisting with renewal preparation, cancellation notices, retention agreements, premium audits, and monthly reporting follow-ups.
  • Reviewing, rating, and processing endorsements and policy changes.
  • Supporting underwriting operations through training assistance, workflow management, and backup support for time-sensitive responsibilities.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum six years of progressive clerical experience required; insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within an underwriting, insurance operations, or related administrative environment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately review and process complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and business systems.
