SUMMARY
Responsible for working with Underwriting team in reviewing, evaluating and underwriting assigned pricing requests for Association Health Plans. Handles primary underwriting functions for assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in all aspects of underwriting for assigned accounts, Association Health Plan (AHP) programs, and employer groups, including risk assessment, pricing, and financial analysis.
Evaluates small and mid-sized employer groups for participation in Association Health Plans through analysis of demographic, enrollment, contribution, claims, and utilization data.
Develops, maintains, and applies underwriting and rating models to support new business quotes, renewals, and ongoing program management.
Analyzes employer group risk profiles and recommends appropriate risk tiers, pricing adjustments, and underwriting actions based on established guidelines and strategic objectives.
Provides underwriting, pricing, financial, and analytical support to assigned service teams, producers, clients, and carrier partners.
Assists in the development of pricing evaluations, financial projections, alternative funding analyses, and benefit plan options as requested by clients and service teams.
Reviews competitive market data, carrier proposals, benefit designs, and pricing trends to support strategic positioning, growth, retention, and profitability objectives.
Monitors market conditions, carrier rate actions, industry trends, and regulatory developments affecting Association Health Plans and employee benefits programs.
Manages and tracks all quoting, underwriting, renewal, and rating activity for assigned accounts, programs, brokers, and employer groups.
Maintains data tracking and reporting systems for financial management, underwriting models, quote activity, renewal outcomes, client reporting, competitive analysis, and other analytical deliverables.
Maintains working knowledge of carrier, TPA, enrollment, and reporting systems necessary to obtain data required for underwriting, financial analysis, and program management.
Maintains complete files, underwriting documentation, historical data, pricing assumptions, and supporting analysis for all assigned clients and programs.
Ensures underwriting decisions, pricing recommendations, and financial analyses are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Supports broker and client discussions by providing underwriting insights, pricing rationale, renewal analysis, and financial recommendations.
Identifies opportunities to improve underwriting processes, pricing methodologies, reporting capabilities, operational efficiencies, and program performance.
Actively engages in continuing education opportunities to further underwriting expertise, market knowledge, financial acumen, and understanding of the regulatory environment.
Responsible for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all work performed, including effective management of priorities, project timelines, and established deadlines.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, carrier guidelines, Association Health Plan requirements, and internal underwriting standards.
Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);
Performs all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Related work experience in underwriting
Valid Insurance License within 90 Days
Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
