The Home Loans Quality Assurance Associate (Underwriting) will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and auditing credit decisions for home equity, mortgage, and unsecured loans, as well as reviewing, credit disputes, collections and existing OLA and OHE portfolios quarterly in accordance with bank policy and all federal compliance regulations. Essential Functions:
- Perform the analysis and audit of credit decisions on loans in accordance with all credit product policies and procedures - Provide quality feedback to underwriters in regards to credit decisions
- Assist with and contribute to the continued effort to improve the department and those around you
- Accurately follow all procedures and processing guidelines
- Recommend updates and changes to credit policies and procedures and ensure the compliance with those policies and procedures. - Be cognizant of and refer training opportunities to Credit Administration Management.
- Assist in the training and development of new Quality Assurance Underwriters and ING DIRECT Underwriters.
- Remain flexible and work with team members and management to staff the Credit Department during hours of operation.
Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years of underwriting experience preferably in a wholesale-banking environment.
- Extensive knowledge of home equity and mortgage lending, preferable in a retail banking environment.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and concepts quickly.
- Excellent communication skills and the willingness and desire to work in a dynamic, flexible, fast paced environment a must. - Thoroughly understand and apply credit policies, loan product policies and all federal regulations when auditing home equity and 1st mortgage decisions. (i.e., Reg. B, FCRA, Reg. Z, Reg. AA, Reg. O)
Education and/or Certifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma.
Technical skills and abilities:
- Computer literate in a network environment
- Extensive retail banking lending experience in a large financial institution preferably one using an automated credit scoring system.
